The positionThe atom of truth is the cluster, not the single witness.

A single video can be staged. A single witness can be wrong. The internet treats them as evidence anyway.

Witnyss takes a different stance. No piece of footage drives a narrative alone. What surfaces is what multiple independent anonymous witnesses agree they're seeing — captured live, signed by their devices at the moment of recording, corroborated against the world's passive record and against what the world did in response.

We don't try to prove every video is real. We make truth expensive to fake.

Every capture follows the same path. Most never reach Frontline. The ones that do have been verified five different ways and corroborated by independent witnesses.

Step 1

A witness captures.

Photo or video, recorded live in the witnyss app. The capture is signed by the phone at the exact moment of recording, with a key only that phone has.

Step 2

Parallax verifies.

Five independent layers check the capture in parallel: is the phone real, do the sensors cohere, who else saw it, does the world's passive record back it up, did the world react.

Step 3

It lands in the pool.

Solo captures live here. They keep their sensor and residue scores; they build the device's reputation. But one witness cannot supply their own corroboration — solo never reaches Frontline.

Step 4

Other witnesses corroborate.

When independent attested phones capture the same event from different angles, in the same place, within minutes — a cluster forms. Each new witness retroactively re-scores the others.

Step 5

The cluster surfaces on Frontline.

Composite score ≥ 0.82, cluster non-null, at least one consequence check completed. Only then does the event appear on Frontline — ranked by corroboration depth, not engagement.

How it worksFive layers. One question each.

Every capture flows through Parallax — a verification pipeline. Each layer is independent, runs in parallel, gives a score. Scores combine into a single weight. Captures cross a high threshold, and have been corroborated by other witnesses, before they reach Frontline.

  1. Device Gate Did this come from a real, unmodified phone running the real Witnyss app? App Attest (iOS) and Play Integrity (Android) confirm the phone is genuine. Each capture is signed at the moment of recording with a key only the device has.
  2. Sensor Coherence Does the capture's own data make internal sense? GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light, microphone, barometer — all bundled and timestamped. A real phone held by a real person leaves a particular fingerprint. Faking one stream is easy; faking all of them so they cohere is much harder.
  3. Cluster Did multiple independent attested phones see the same event from different angles? The philosophical core. Solo captures stay in the pool but never elevate — one witness cannot supply their own corroboration. When independent attested devices converge on the same place and time, that's evidence. Coordinated groups on the same network, in the same vehicle, sharing motion patterns get collapsed to one for counting.
  4. Residue Does the world's passive record corroborate this place and time? Atmospheric pressure compared to weather records. Solar elevation compared to ambient light. WiFi networks cross-referenced with global maps. Satellite visibility against orbital ephemeris. A real place at a real moment leaves a shadow in a dozen independent global datasets. A fabrication has to invent all of them simultaneously.
  5. Consequence Did the world change in the ways it should have, if this happened? At +6, +24, and +72 hours, the system queries dispatch logs, news coverage, regulatory feeds, satellite thermal, air quality, seismic. Real events leave downstream marks. Captures that score high on the early layers but show no world-reaction at all are held in the pool, not surfaced. Absence of consequence is itself a signal.

A capture must clear a composite weight ≥ 0.82, sit in a corroborated cluster, and have at least one consequence check completed before it reaches Frontline. Same bar journalism makes. Same bar courts make.

PrivacyNo accounts. No names. No tracking.

Each phone generates a cryptographic key on first launch and keeps it on the device. That key is the device's name. Reputation accumulates against the key over time as captures get corroborated by independent others — without anyone ever learning who you are.

There is no signup. No email, no phone number, no profile. The only identifier the system has for you is the public half of a key your phone made and never shared.

The honest gapWitnyss does not solve every problem.

The cluster-required architecture systematically under-serves events that happen in isolation: intimate partner violence, police misconduct without bystanders, private care settings. The gap falls along lines of vulnerability and isolation.

The high bar is the right bar. The gap is the cost of the integrity choice.

Witnyss does one thing well: makes truth expensive to fake in public and semi-public events. It does not solve the private-event problem, and we will not pretend that it does.

Solo captures aren't discarded. They build device reputation, sit in the pool, and elevate retroactively if a cluster forms later — including from other solo captures of the same actor or location across time.
